To paint...I pretty much just ghetto rig it up. (side note: it's best to clean very well before beginning to paint) Those are two bungy chords hanging from our garage door. Even my husband had to admit it was a pretty great idea.
When painting...spray paint primer is definitely your friend. After a good coat of primer you are ready to coat in a high glass spray paint.
