A Chic Brooklyn Heights Greek Revival!

I stumbled across this incredible Brooklyn Heights Greek Revival via CWB Architects.  This project entailed a complete structural and mechanical gut renovation of this four story, 3200 sq. ft. row house and extension.

The designer?  Jennifer Eisenstadt Design and Decoration, LLC.  Why have I not heard of her before?  Check out this incredibly chic home (I believe this might be her home.)

I am completely speechless....

Keep a look out for her use of modern and vintage light fixtures.  I believe this and the kitchen's fixture might be Lindsey Adelman's bubble light which I posted about here.  I am in love!

Pocket doors, brass fixtures, modern lighting, oh my!

For real? A leopard print runner!! Brilliantly done.

Black and white graphic wallpaper and mirrored furniture - I love it.  Do you notice the ruffle trim on the curtains?  Such a nice feminine detail.  And, the brass doorknobs?  I love the dark walls in the adjourning room.  I just wish I could see more of this bedroom.

How chic!

The marble veining in the shower, the vanity's lucite legs, hexagonal floor and wall tiles and the brass hardware are all so wonderful!

I am so using balloon shades in our next house.  Remember this post?

So tastefully done.

Do you notice how glossy the trim is?

This is probably her office, no?  What an amazing space to work in!

And, just when you thought you were done with the surprises - she throws this into the mix!  Holy Cow!  She is incredible!  The mix of the chinoiserie wallpaper with the inlaid wooden chevron floor - crazy good!

I love the primary colors and the kilim rug!

Oh my goodness!!  So amazing!

Okay, how incredible is this home?  I can tell you that I will be studying each and every one of these pictures for a long time.  I haven't felt this inspired in a while.

Can some magazine publish her space so I can get all the sources, please??

Jennifer Eisenstadt is my new hero!

Mums The Word

We've been mum planting fools around our hizzy. Well, I have been...Talon doesn't dabble in flower planting. Aren't mums the prettiest? They scream fall and this far have been super easy to keep alive. Which is a definite plus. I loved the mums that had all of the colors mixed....they were also cheaper than buying 3 different color mums and planting them yourself. Score. Everything got a mum in it....small pots.....Hanging baskets.....And big pots:)
Has anyone else went a little crazy mum planting lately?

Mini Makeover: My Patio

If you remember in this post, I told you that we have teensy tiny patio I wanted to spruce up.  Our patio was virtually a place where we kept our trash cans and stacked garden chairs during the winter.  It is nothing pretty to look at by any means.

Before

If we were to stay in this house longer, the first thing of order would be to either re-paint or spray wash the foundation and re-cement the stairs.  I also would replace the metal door and windows, but it's not worth it because we want to move.

If you remember, I also said I had no budget for this makeover so I wanted to shop my home and repurpose what I had.  As you can see above, we had two wicker chairs, a garden stool and an outdoor/indoor rug (not pictured).  All of these were to become the main ingredients for the mini-makeover.

Above is the mood board I created for my project.  Here, you can see the rug I had to work with - definitely not my favorite, but it worked just fine.  I spray painted the wicker chairs glossy black and the garden stool an apple green.  I bought cream round planters from Joann's (out of all places) for 50% off.  And, I bought sunbrella chair cushions and mini lumbar pillows.

After

Here is the after.  In my humble opinion, I really think the planters make it.  They add color and life to this patio.  So, what do you think?  Not bad for re-purposing what you currently own and using your green thumb!!

Now if only the mosquitos would disappear, I could sit out here in the evenings!!!

Outdoor Cushion Makeover

After two summers our outdoor cushions were anything but a pleasure to sit on. Remedying this was on the top of my to do list. I set out to buy new cushions and was insanely shocked at how expensive they were. The cushions that would actually fit our chairs were a fortune and there were not a lot of options in terms of fabric. I called my Mom -- told her the dilemma -- she of course insisted we could recover my current ones for way cheaper and quote "It will be the easiest project you have ever done" - HA. This was last Saturday. Here we are less than a week later and I have new cushions for my patio furniture. Crazy Right? Here's how it all went down... The picture on the left is a better representation of what the majority of the cushions looked like -- faded and gross. Please note, this is not a tutorial but more of a brief overview of what we did.... 1st - tear down the fabric to create a pattern
2nd - Cut out your fabric using the pattern from above.

Here it is...ready to be sewn together. We were able to use the cord from the old cushions which worked out great.
3rd - Lots of sewing (by the way - my mom made me pose for those pictures - I only really sewed together a tiny pillow)....
4th - Stuff your newly created pillows and sew by hand the bottom section of the pillow.

Here they are....Didn't they turn out great? That's the little pillow I made:)
I got the fabric at Hobby Lobby. What do you think about the rug with the fabric pattern? Does it clash?
Can't wait to go home and hang with Tils and Tal on our newly updated patio...

So happy with the final product! If only I could make my plants out there look that good! Big thanks to my Mom for all of her help!!!
