Back Splash...Check

First off, prepare yourself for a whole lotta pictures. 2nd, holy crap re-doing a back splash is a lot of work. Not that I really know. I mean I did watch Talon the whole time and he sure did look like it was a lot of work. Lets get started...
Here are the before shots. Our back splash was fine. It's biggest problem was that it was installed poorly. You couldn't really notice it unless you were up close and personal or cooking. Tal and I finally had enough of staring at its waviness and added it to the to do list for 2011.
Here's the beginning....removing all outlet covers and clearing the counters. We're only about 20 minutes in at this point.
We got lucky that Talon was able to tear down the old tile pretty easily. Old drywall still in tact.

Please notice the beginning stages of painting to your right.
Talon decided to go ahead and place an additional sheet of dry wall up over the old so we didn't run into the same problems that we had before (wavy and un-even).
A good shot of the primer. By the way, priming is terrible. Also, painting and re-doing a back splash at the same time TERRIBLE. Painting a kitchen in general - TERRIBLE.
This is around hour number 15. Exhaustion had set in and we were not happy with how BLUE everything was looking.
We had plans to use off-white grout but due to the extreme blueness we decided to go with gray. Great decision.
Here's a good shot of before and after grout. It really darkened it up a lot.
Finished product. Could not be happier. We still have some molding to add but it can definitely wait until Talon musters up some more energy.

Here's a good shot of the paint color. It is Castle Path by Behr. It's a great gray/beige color. Anyways, we are officially on a project break (at least for a few days). This was literally a huge 2 day project but well worth all the hard work. It completely changed the look of our kitchen. I hope everyone has the BEST weekend!
